Services for Imko Huisinga, 78, of Crystal Lake, who died Friday, Jan. 16 at the Hancock County Hospital in Britt, were held Monday, Jan. 19 at the Woden Christian Reformed Church at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Raymond Graves officiating.

Music was provided by Mary Ann Van Weelden, organist, and a quartet composed of Paul Tiaden, Marvin Hillenga, John Smidt and Harlan Eekhoff. Ushers were Kevin Kruger and Dennis Kruger.

Honorary casket bearers were George P. Smidt, Leroy Twait, C.B. Van Deventer, Galen Wooge, M.E. Kerns and Jerome Heimer. Active casket bearers were Dennis Glawe, Gen Arkema, Stanley Limberg, Oliver Kardoes, Ron Smidt and Tim Hamilton.

Interment was at Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Imko Huisinga, son of Heiko and Anna Schmidt Huisinga, was born January 8, 1909 near Kamrar. He moved to Bingham Township with his parents at an early age. He attended the Bingham Township country schools.

On June 11, 1936 he was married to Sadie Monson at Woden. The couple farmed in Bingham Township and moved into Crystal Lake in 1972. After he quit farming Imko became associated with Kerns Implement in Britt. In June of 1986 Imko and Sadie celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.

Imko was a member of the Woden Christian Reformed Church, was a 4-H leader for over 15 years, and served on the Woden Co-op Elevator Board and the Crystal Lake City Council. He enjoyed gardening, making miniature machinery and carpentry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tillie; a brother, Harm; and one sister and two brothers in childhood.

Imko is survived by his wife, Sadie; two daughters, Rosalie Norem of Ames and Sylvia Severson of Mound, MN; a son-in-law, Robin Severson of Mound, MN; three grandchildren: Julie Norem of Ann Arbor, MI, Steven Norem of Nevada and Buffy Severson of Mound, MN; and one brother Louis of Woden.
