Services for Gaylord O. Holm, 88, of Garner, who died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Concord Care Center, Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22, at Faith Lutheran Church in Miller with the Rev. Owen Gaasedelen officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Margaret Torkelson, who accompanied soloist, Warren Torkelson, and congregational hymn. Ushers were Norman Juhl and Wilbur Peterson.

Honorary casket bearers were Wayne Hollatz, Art Hoeft, Marvin and Darlene Hanna, Bernal and Kathleen Hanna and Bob and Patty Hestad.

Casket bearers were Irving Hall, Orville Hall, Harold Hall, Merle Hall, Harry Berg, Curtis Upmeyer, Roger Furness and Curtis Greimann.

Burial was at Ellington Prairie Cemetery, rural Garner. Visitation was held Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E..4th St., Garner.

Gaylord Orville Holm, the son of Adolph and Anna (Hall) Holm, was born August 28, 1909, on a farm northeast of Garner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church. He graduated from Ventura High School in 1927 and then farmed the family farm northeast of Garner until retirement. He enjoyed farming, fishing and playing horse-shoe.

He was a life long member of Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church until 1965 when he became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Miller. He had served on the church council, was a past secretary of Ellington Prairie Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of Luther League and Lutheran Brotherhood.

He is survived by his sister, Clara Holm of Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Holm, January 25, 1987; and an aunt, Ingeborg Sunder who came to America from Norway to help with the family after his mother passed away when the children were young.
