Ernest Henschen rites at Klemme

Services for Ernest L. Henschen, 73, were held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 23, at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. The Rev. George E. Behrens officiated.

Music was provided by Gwen Behrens, Mary Jane Barz, Milvern Barz and Ray Wille, accompanied by Lynette Buseman, organist.

Burial was made in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with the Johnston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery. Pallbearers were J. C. Thomas, Ben Greiman, Fred Etchen, Albert Etchen, Fred Stromer and Ben Goll.

Born near Garner on October 7, 1892, he was the son of Ernest C. and Sophia Wacker Henschen. As a youth he received his elementary education and attended high school at Garner.

On July 24, 1918, he entered military service with the United States Army and served in France until in February of 1919. For a period of time he farmed near Klemme and for the last 20 years he operated a tank wagon in the Klemme area.

Mr Henschen died Thursday, May 19, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Otto Woiwood of Garner, and one brother, Walter Henschen of Klemme. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Alfred, and two sisters, Esther and Elsie.
