Services for Fred W. Henken Jr., 63, Crystal Lake, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 1992 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held Saturday, Jan. 2, 1993, 10 a.m., at Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Barbara Larson, and soloist, Allan Peebles. Ushers were James Larson and Bryce Juhl.

Honorary casket bearers were Ronald D. Nielson, Steve Kadlecik, Jim Nelson, Harold Moklestad, Richard Kloberdanz, Jim Showalter and Royal McNeese.

Active bearers were Richard Carney, James Kirschbaum, Pete K. Leuwerke, Larry Kunkel, Garry Wilson and Ralph Juhl.

Burial was at the Crystal Lake Township Cemetery, Crystal Lake with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Flag folding ceremonies were conducted by Crystal Lake American Legion.

Fred W. Henken Jr., the son of Fred and Della Spear Henken, was born May 7, 1929 at Titonka.

April 15, 1961, he married Janice Oppedal in Garner. He worked at Winnebago Industries for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He was an active member of the American Legion Post of Crystal Lake and was an avid fisherman and gardener.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Henken of Crystal Lake; a daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Steven Kloberdanz of Bolingbrook, IL: two sons. Jeffrey and his wife, Andrea Henken of Sachsenhausen, Germany, and Jason and his wife, Heather Henken of Woden; two sisters, Gladys Kirschbaum of Crystal Lake, and Katherine and her husband, LuVerne Helland of Sun Lakes, AZ; a brother, Gerd Henken and his wife, Betty of Miller; and two grandchildren, Christina and Lisa of Sachsenhausen, Germany.
