Anna Gronsund rites held Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Gronsund of Forest City were held Saturday morning at Immanuel Lutheran church in Forest City. The Rev. Ole Winter and the Rev. John Hieronymus officiated.

Norma Boomgarden, organist, accompanied Mrs. Marlin Olson, soloist.

Casket bearers were Steven Nelson, Gary Nelson, Leslie Torkelson, Dell Book, Dean Steinmetz and Terry Steinmete. Burial was in Madison Township cemetery.

A prayer service was held Friday evening at Petersen Funeral home in Forest City.

Mrs. Gronsund, 96, died Thursday at Forest City community hospital.

Anna Margaret Gronsund, the daughter of Theodore and Nellie Nelson Erickson, was born Nov. 28, 1885, on a farm in Story County near Garden City. She attended school in Story County, Brownsville, Texas, and LaFarge, Wis.

In 1904, she was married to Salva Staaleson at LaFarge. After her husband's death in 1905, she moved to Forest City where she was chief operator for the Bell Telephone Company for several years.

In 1933, she married Sigvold Gronsund at Clear Lake. They moved to Beloit, Wis., and later to LaFarge, Wis., where they farmed for more than 15 years. In 1948, they retired and moved to Viroqua, Wis. In 1966, they moved to Forest City.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and A.L.C.W. in Forest City.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Sylvia) Haugen of Forest City; two grandsons, Robert Haugen of Hanlontown and Ronald Haugen of Forest City; five great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Thea Steinmetz of LaFarge, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Salva Staaleson in 1905 and Sigvold Gronsund in 1967; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Paulina Steinmetz; and a brother, Erick Erickson.
