Services for Lena C. Hall, 96, Forest City, who died Monday, April 8, 1994, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, were held Tuesday, April 12, 10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Owen Gaasedelen of Faith Lutheran Church in Miller officiating.

Music was provided by Margie Markusen, soloist, and Leonard Markusen, organist.

Casket bearers were Terry Hall, Roger Hall, Michael Hall, John Hall, Randy Juhl and Ted Yanecek.

Burial was at Ellington Prairie Cemetery, Garner, with Petersen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lena C. Hall, the daughter of John and Meta (Grell) Dietz, was born July 4, 1897, in Joliet, IL. She received her education in Iowa at a rural school near her home.

February 22, 1917, she married George M. Hall. The couple made their home in rural Garner for all of their married lives. George died in March of 1931. Lena continued living on the farm until moving to Forest City in 1952.

Lena was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was active in church life, serving as a Sunday School teacher and on various ladies' circles. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

She entered the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City in March of 1987.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Harold and Eva Hall of Garner, Galen and Mary Hall of Mankato, MN, Merle and Marjorie Hall of Forest City, Doris Juhl and her husband, Marvin of Forest City, Myrtle Yanecek and her husband, Merle of Cedar Rapids, Leonard and Donna Hall of Winthrop. ME: a sister, Louise Jante of Owatonna, MN: a sister-in-law, Mable Dietz of Breckenridge, MN; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson, and a great-grandson.
