1914-1990

Services for Elsie Goodrich, 76, Kanawha, who died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 1990 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Saturday, Nov. 3, 10:30 a.m. at the Kanawha United Methodist Church in Kanawha with Rev. Kathryn Bissen officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Joann Hansen, who accompanied a duet of Marvin and Robert Engh. Ushers were Joel Devries and Roger Hansen.

Casket bearers were Robert Schoenwetter, David Schoenwetter, Cecil Eliason, Jerry Johnson, David Rueber and Tom Delger.

Burial was at the Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Elsie A. Goodrich, the daughter of Aurich (Ole) and Mary L. Marcks Eenhuis, was born April 18, 1914 at Britt.

February 25, 1937, she married George M. Goodrich at Britt. The couple farmed outside of Kanawha until 1958. They then moved to a farm west of Klemme. She retired along with her husband in 1971 and moved to Kanawha where she was employed as a cook for the Hartwig Cafe and also was head of the Kanawha Congregate Meals program.

She was a member of the Kanawha United Methodist Church in Kanawha. She was a former member of the Liberty Methodist Church and the Liberty Methodist Church Womens' Club in Klemme.

She is survived by a son, Virgil Goodrich and wife, Diane, and their children, Casie and Rex of Parkersburg; a daughter, VaDonna Goodrich Scherschel and husband, John, and their children, Taryn and Ryan of Reno, NV; a daughter, Vernetta "Sam" Opheim-Cook and husband, Roger, and their children, J.A. and Ian Cook and Brett and Heather Opheim of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Marie Eekhoff and Anne Knoll of Kanawha, and Emma Trulson of TN; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Goodrich in 1981; her parents; two sisters, Grace Smidt and Hannah Eekhoff; two brothers, John Eenhuis and Carl Eenhuis; a grandson, Virgil Goodrich Jr.; and son-in-law, John Opheim.
