Services for Mary S. Finch, 83, Crystal Lake, who died Thursday, May 5, 1988 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Monday, May 9, 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Norbert L. Jolivette officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Jim Larson, and soloist, Mrs. Frank Haugland. Ushers were Maynard Johnson and Ralph Juhl.

Casket bearers were Ronald Hartman, Jim Larson, Jim Showalter, Allan Peebles, James Nelson, Gary Wilson and Bryce Juhl.

Burial was at Crystal Township Cemetery at Crystal Lake with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mabel S. Finch, the daughter of Andrew and Bertha Fetland Johnson, was born December 26, 1904 at Ames. She received her education in Ames schools.

March 7, 1929, she married John W. Finch in Ames. The couple farmed near Nevada before moving to a farm in the Crystal Lake area in 1944.

She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake, the Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, John of Crystal Lake; two daughters, Mary Lou Terhark of Belmond, and Ann Finch of Britt; two sons, Melvin and his wife, Della of Litchfield, MN, and Johnny Jr. and his wife, Marybel of Britt; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Nillie Lande of Ames.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, one sister, four brothers and a son-in-law.
