John W. Finch

John William Finch, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 1994 at his home in Crystal Lake, Iowa. Services were held Saturday. June 4, 1994 at Calvary Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, Iowa with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating. Organist, Barb Larson accompanied soloist, Allan Peebles. Ushers were Ronald Hartman and James Larson.

Casketbearers were Charles Finch, Jerry Finch, Don Finch, Johnny Terhark. Wade Finch, John Finch and Ron Finch.

Interment was in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery, Crystal Lake, Iowa. Services were under the direction of The Ewing Funeral Home.

John was born November 28, 1904 at Kelly, Iowa, to Calvin and Matelda Graham Finch. He attended Kelly Consolidated School in Kelly and also farmed with his parents.

On March 7, 1929, he was united in marriage with Mabel Johnson in Ames, Iowa. The couple farmed near Nevada before moving to a farm in the Crystal Lake area in 1944. John loved to farm. He also liked to spend time gardening and fishing. John was a member of the Cal Lutheran church.

He is survived by two daughters: Mary Lou Terhark of Belmond and Ann Finch of Britt; two sons, Melvin and his wife, Della of Litchfield, MN and Johnny Jr. of Britt; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant daughter, one sister, four brothers, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law.
