Edgar C. Howes, Dead

Edgar C. Howes an old veteran of the civil war died at his home in Ellington township. Mr. Howes came to this county in 1868 and improved a farm in Sec. 28, Ellington township where he has since resided. He was a good citizen and neighbor and was well liked by all who knew him.

For nearly 15 years he was suffering from stomach troubles, resulting from his army service, and for a number of years unable to do manual labor.

The Howes are of the few old settlers who were living near the Ellington post office and along Lime Creek when the writer came to Hancock county in 1869 and still living on their old farms. The family came to this county from New York.
