John Q. Beadle
Through telephone and telegram messages word was received here of the death of John Q. Beadle at St. Paul, an uncle of Howard Beadle of this city.
John Q. Beadle was born in New Port, Vermont, February 5th, 1829, and died last Tuesday evening at St. Luke hospital. In 1849 he went to California in the gold rush and stayed there three years and returned to Vermont. He came to Forest City community in 1859.
He enlisted in Company C. 12th United States in 1861 and served three years and three months in the army during the Civil War and fought in eighteen battles, the second was the battle at Bull Run and the last was the Petersburg battle. He spent the remainder of his life in Winnebago and Hancock counties. He was taken to the hospital a week ago where an operation was performed but old age and complications could not resist the strain.
The remains were brought back to Forest City today and interment will be made in the Ellington township cemetery.
Everybody knew John for miles around and sympathy is extended to friends and relatives.
