Margaret Elder, daughter of Geo. and Margaret Elder was born March 12, 1866, in Upper Grove, Goodell, Iowa. When a young lady she went to Washington D. C. and there married S. Sidney Smith in 1899 and went to live in Williamsburg, Virginia. Seven years later they moved west and spent 13 years in Oklahoma City. In 1914 they moved to Evanston, Illinois and Mr. Smith died there in 1924.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Stone and Mrs. George W. Kassel both of whom live in Evanston, 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. James Trumbull and Mrs. Hall of Mason City, two brothers, Newton Elder of Mason City and Dr. Adrian Elder of Liberty, Mo.

Mrs. Smith passed away very suddenly on Tuesday evening, March 4th. A service was held in Evanston, Thursday afternoon.

Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Goodell U. B. church with Rev. Harold R. Knight officiating and burial in the family lot in the Amsterdam Cemetery.
