August Schuldt Dead

His Passing Was a Great Shock to His Family and Friends, Buried Sunday Afternoon

Wholly unexpected and like a thunder bolt from a clear sky came the announcement Friday last, just before the noon hour, that August Schuldt had passed away. It has been several years since Mr. Schuldt has enjoyed real good health, due to a disordered heart, but he had been about his work as usual during the morning hours of the day of his death. He complained of feeling poorly and about the middle of the forenoon, and upon the advise of his wife, retired to a bedroom of the home to rest. A short time after, when Mrs. Schuldt went to the room to learn his condition, he lay, dead.

Deceased was one of the prominent and well thought of men of this section. The accompanying biographical sketch tells the story of his earthly stay.

August John Schuldt was born in Eldena, Mecklenberg, Germany, Nov. 11, 1861 and died on June 26, 1925, aged 63 years, seven months and eight days. He came with his parents to America when three years of age, locating at Colesburg, Iowa, where the family lived for many years. When 17 years of age, he came to Hancock County and has lived here continuously since then.

On March 7th, 1888 he was married to Fredericka Schuldt and to this union there were born four children, two dying in infancy, and two daughters who grew to womanhood, Mrs. Louis Abele and Miss Mabel Schuldt.

In 1903 he moved from the farm to Garner and during these years he has been engaged in gardening. He was raised in a Christian home and ******* church. For many years he has been a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the official Board, an ardent worker and supporter of the local and benevolent interests as carried on by said church.

He leaves to mourn his departure, a devoted wife and two children, Mrs. Louis Abele and Miss Mabel Schuldt, also two brothers, Ernest Schuldt of Klemme and John of Ridgefield, Washington. Three sisters, Mrs. Anna Hartke and Mrs. Minnie Josten both of Garner and Mrs. Sofia Mitzner of Colesburg. A brother and sister have preceded him to the celestial land. Mr. Louis Schuldt and Mrs. Emma Kluckhohn - the later who so recently was claimed in death.

Mr. Schuldt was an honest, industrious and neighborly man. He loved his home and his church and his work. He has gone the way of all the earth, and already to him has faith become sight. He will be missed by the many, and especially will his absence be felt at those places where life held its greatest treasures - with his family and in the sanctuary listening to the Word of God. He was alone when he passed out of the tabernacle of flesh, and yet not alone for there is One who has said "Lo, I am with you always even unto the end of the world."

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the M. E. Church.
