Funeral Rites Held Wednesday for Robert Maidland [Maitland]
Funeral Held at Ventura; Burial Took Place at Goodell Cemetery.
Robert Maidland [Maitland],who for several years had made his home here at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Hyde, residing on the Clausen farm, south of the lake, passed away Tuesday, the result of old age infirmities, being 80 years of age.
Mr. Maidland [Maitland] was born in Colburn, Ontario, Canada, Oct 11, 1856. He located in Iowa in 1903 settling on a farm near Goodell. Here he remained until a few years ago when he came to Clear Lake and made his home with his daughter. The funeral was held Wednesday at the Ventura U. B. church and interment was made at Goodell.
Mr. Maidland is survived by one son, five brothers and one sister, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Relatives present at the funeral were a sister, Mrs. Sarah Beardsley of Sycamore, Ill.; a brother, George Maidland, also of Sycamore; and another brother, Thomas Maidland, of Nashua who is here with his wife. Two nephews from Sycamore, Lester and George Maidland, attended the funeral, as well as two nieces, Mrs. John Peterson of Storm Lake and Mrs. J. M. Gehrt of Bradgate. James R. Maidland of Fort Dodge, the son, was also present.
The pallbearers were Dean Webner of Klemme, Chas. Lawhorn and Christ Irving of Garner, Ed Bachman and Albert Johnson of Ventura.
