Funeral For Henry Lewis, 55, Held At Klemme On Friday

Died Of Heart Ailment At Mason City Hospital On July 18

Klemme - Funeral services for Henry Lewis were held at the Klemme Methodist church Friday, July 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. H. E. Harvey, pastor, in charge.

Henry Lewis was born at Beaver Dam, Wis., Dec. 31, 1888 one of a family of eight children. When he was three months old the family moved to Iowa and for a few years lived at Porters Siding which was a side track on the railroad about a mile north of Klemme. After the town of Klemme was started in 1889 the family moved to town where he lived ever since. He is one of the few people who have lived here continuously since the town was platted. He attended the Klemme schools, was a member of the Methodist church and when a young man began a poultry and egg buying business which he continued until the time of his death.

In point of years of serving the community he can be ranked as one of the oldest business men of Klemme.

Nov. 26, 1914 Henry Lewis and Rose Etchen were married and made their home in Klemme. This union was blessed with two children, a daughter, Eva May, who died at the age of three in 1918 and a son, Duard who survives.

Henry Lewis was a pleasant and easy going man who enjoyed the many good things which this life provides and had many friends.

July 4, Mr. Lewis was stricken with a heart ailment and died at a Mason City hospital Tuesday evening, July 18, at about 6 o'clock. He has reached the age of 55 years, six months and 18 days.

Of his immediate family he leaves his wife and a son, Duard; four brothers, Charles, Holly, Verner and Ernest; one sister, Gertrude, Mrs. Henry Yahnke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and more distant relatives and friends.

Casket bearers were C. G. Waterman, Fred Kluckhohn, Lloyd Lau, Ed Thomposn, Jim C. Thomas, Herman Paul. Interment was in the family lot in the Ell township cemetery.
