In Memoriam
John LasherJohn Lasher was born in Livingstone Co., N. Y., Jan. 23, 1826, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. E. Brooks, on March 23, 1902 - aged 76 yrs. and 2 mos.
At the age of 13 he moved with his parents to Allegheny Co., N. Y., and resided there until he was 20 yrs. of age when he returned to Allegheny Co., and on Mch. 3, 1847 was united in marriage with Miss Lorinda Weed, who died about 3 yrs. ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Lasher moved to Hancock County in 1871, settling in Avery Twp. and remained residents of this township until their death.
Deceased was the father of 5 daughters, 4 of whom are still living. Mrs. Wm. Stockwell, of Neb., and another daughter of Wisconsin, were unable to be present at the funeral which took place Monday, March 24, at the U. B. Church, conducted by Rev. Hartsough.
Mr. Lasher was well known over the County and was an honest and industrious man. During the latter years of his life, owing to physical disabilities, was unable to perform any labor, but "Uncle Johnie," as he was familiarly called by everybody, is missed by our townspeople.
The relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of everyone in this community in their bereavement.
