Hughes, of Garner, Is Summoned
Former Goodell Barber Buried Sunday
Goodell - John Hughes, 68, former Goodell barber, died at his home in Garner, Friday, Oct. 7. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Goodell U.B. Church with the Rev. U. Schuldt of Garner and Dr. W. Dye officiating.
Mr. Hughes was born in Ellington township Dec. 14, 1870. He was married to Carrie Christenson on August 26, 1893.
In 1919, the Hughes family moved to Garner where he served as tank salesman for the Standard Oil company for several years. Later he was janitor for the Garner schools.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Clinton, of Beloit, Wis., Bob of Knoxville, and Ed, of Garner, two daughters, Mrs. Dulcie Mayland of Spring Valley, Minn., and Mrs. Ethel Dykeman of Evansville, Ind., a sister, Mrs. Lew Avery of Goodell, five brothers, Ed of Rowen, Tom and Sidney in the Veterans hospital in the west, Delbert of Minneapolis and Bob of Waterloo, and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clark Thompson, Elwin Greiman, Martin Hagen, Howard Ruka, William Gilbert and William Ayers of Garner.
