Vinnie Hubbard dies at age 92, victim of stroke

A stroke suffered Tuesday of last week resulted in the death Saturday of Mrs. Vinnie Hubbard at the age of 92. she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Heginger, where she had lived the past five years. She had enjoyed good health for her age, prior to the stroke.

Funeral services were held at Fulton Funeral Home on Saturday afternoon. Rev. William Heinzig of St. John Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in Amsterdam cemetery at Goodell. Pallbearers were Paul Jenison, Merrill Jenison, Billy Lee Hubbard, Melvin Richardson, Gary Ersland and Ben Heginger.

Was born in Wisconsin

Vinnie May Burgess was born Nov. 8, 1869, at Union, Wis., daughter of John and Mary Ann Chapin Burgess. There she attended grade school and a boarding school for girls. She was wed on Oct. 16, 1888, to Ernest Philip Hubbard and they farmed near Union for some years after their marriage.

In 1898 they moved to a farm near Goodell, which they operated for five years. They then left the farm to open a meat market at Goodell, which they conducted until the late twenties. They lived in semi-retirement thereafter up to the time of Mr. Hubbard's death in 1934.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard. A daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Mabel DeEll) Jenison preceded her mother in death. Surviving are Mrs. William (Dorothy) Heginger and a son, Harvey Frederick, of Swea City.

Moved to Belmond in '37

Mrs. Hubbard acquired a home in Belmond in 1937 and lived there until advancing years prompted her to make her home with her daughter in 1956.

While living at Goodell she attended the EUB church and later the Methodist church at Belmond, also attending services at St. John Lutheran church on occasion.

Besides her two children, she is survived by six grandchildren; Mrs. Arlene Richardson of Clarion, Paul Jenison of Belmond, Mrs. William Pfalzgraf and Cleo P. Jenison living in California, Delbert Jenison living in Oregon, and Billy Lee Hubbard of Swea City.

Two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Also surviving are 16 great grandchildren and seven great,great grandchildren.
