Death of Mrs. Mary Griggs

Mary Bachman, the subject of this sketch, was born in Ackley, Iowa, March 17, 1873, was united in marriage to George W. Griggs December 9, 1896. Died of heart trouble at her home east of Goodell September 22, 1906, age 33 years, 6 months, 5 days.

Her death was sudden and her departure leaves an aching void in the hearts of the loved ones and a vacant chair in the home where she will be so much missed.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Langdon at the United Brethren Church on Tuesday September 25th, from the text, "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself." - Romans 14-7. The songs were rendered by the church choir with Mrs. Verle Porter as organist. Lovely flowers, tokens of friends, adorned the casket. The pallbearers were the following: J. L McGuire, A. Ahrenkiel, S. G. Fuller, J. F. Hartfeldter, H. A. Sweigard, P. M. Griesemer. How sympathetic and kind are friends in the time of trouble.

Besides an aged mother, the deceased leaves husband, two children, one sister and six brothers to mourn their loss.

The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of a host of friends in this their sad hour of life.

And stars to set - but all
Thou hast all seasons for thine own, oh Death.
We know when moons shall wane,
When summer birds from far shall cross
the sea,
When autumn's hue shall tinge the golden
grain;
But who shall teach us when to look for
thee?
