Services For Martha Griggs

Goodell: This community was saddened Saturday by the death of Mrs. George Griggs, age 73, who passed away at the Nursing home in Rockwell.

Martha Bachman Griggs, daughter of pioneer settlers, George and Gertrude Bachman, was born April 20, 1881, on a farm in Avery township near Goodell, and lived within two miles of her birthplace all her life. Due to ill health she entered the Nursing home at Rockwell a year ago, passing away Saturday morning March 13.

In Sept. 31, 1907, she was united in marriage to George Griggs. To this union was born three children.

At an early age she was baptized in the United Brethren church at Meservey, later united with the Goodell church.

Mrs. Griggs was preceded in death by an infant son, Roscoe. Surviving are her husband, two sons, Audrey and Harold at home, two step children, Mrs. Walter Neuberger (Shirley) of Ventura and Pressley Griggs of Manly. Also two grandchildren, Loretta and Lois Griggs.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, at the E.U.B. church in Goodell, with the pastor, the Rev. Park E. Miller officiating. Burial took place in Amsterdam cemetery.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Henry Brede and Mrs. Robert McNutt who sang, accompanied by Mrs. Matt Smith on the piano.

Pallbearers were Clarence, Eugene, Alvin, Walter and Elmer Bachman, nephews and Robert Roths.
