Mary Griffin [Greffin, Griffen] Rites to Be Held Monday

Mary Griffin [Greffin, Griffen], 74, died Friday at a Mason City hospital. She had made her home with Dr. and Mrs. C. B. Tice, 125 9th N. W.

Mrs. Griffin was born Sept. 22, 1880, in Clayton County, to Carl and Hannah Griffin. While still a child of four, her mother was killed in an accident while the family was living in Oregon.

Shortly after that, the family of three children and the father returned to Iowa and the father began farming near Klemme. At the age of 14, she moved to Mason City to live with the F. J. Arnold family, where she grew to womanhood.

After 22 years with this family, she moved to Minneapolis and for the past 12 years had made her home with Dr. and Mrs. Tice in Mason City. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Mary" to the sons and daughters of the Arnold and Tice families and other close friends.

Surviving are a sister, Clara Runge, Klemme; a brother, Charles Griffin, Morris, Minn., and a half sister, Miss Alvina Griffin, Garner.

Funeral services will be held at the Major Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, with Doctor Lloyd A. Gustafson, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Klemme Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel from 2 p.m. Sunday until the time of services.
