Rites Last Week For Floyd Foster

Floyd W. Foster passed away after a brief illness at the Veterans hospital at Des Moines on Thursday, Sept. 14,, at the age of 54 years, six months and three days.

Funeral services were held at Kanawha Methodist church Tuesday afternoon of last week with Rev. R. D. Kitterman officiating and war veterans forming a guard of honor. Military services were conducted at the graveside. Interment was made in the Kanawha cemetery.

Floyd Wright Foster, son of George and Mary Foster, was born at Clinton, Ill., March 11, 1896. At the age of four he came to Kanawha with his parents and made his home thereafter in this community. His education was obtained in the schools of this territory.

On Aug. 8, 1926, he was married to Iris Trumbell at Belmond. Two children were born to them.

The major portion of Mr. Foster's life was spent as a mechanic and he served with various local firms.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Ralph; and on sister, Mrs. Guy Eggers. His death was the third in the Foster family within less than a year.

He is survived by his wife and two sons - George Eldon of the U.S. Navy at Pensacola, Fla., and Lloyd LeRoy of the U.S. Army in the Far East. There also survives one grandson, Richard, son of Eldon; two sisters - Nettie (Mrs. Nels Thorson) and Grace (Mrs. Clarence Thorson); and one brother, Roy, all of Kanawha.

Floyd was a member of the VFW, having served in World War I in France and Germany, and I.O.O.F. of Kanawha and was a member of Rebekah Encampment of Britt and Canton Lodge of Mason City.
