Former resident dies at Manly

Funeral services were held last Monday at the Methodist Church, Forest City, for Mrs. Walter Bergman, 55, Manly, a former Lake Mills resident. She died the previous Friday at her home. Last rites were conducted by the Rev. Max Goldman, Forest City, and the Rev. James E. Albertson, Klemme, took part in the service. Interment was in Madison Township Cemetery, Forest City.

Gladys Olene Bergman was born to John and Dena Hanna Olson on April 15, 1910. She was united in marriage to John Etzen in 1930. They had two children, Robert and Beverly. Mr. Etzen died in January of 1942. In November of that year, Mrs. Etzen married Walter Bergman. They had a son, Jerry. The Bergman family had lived in the Forest City, Lake Mills and Britt communities and presently at Manly.

Mrs. Bergman is survived by her husband , her sons, Jerry, Garner, and Robert, Clarion; her daughter, Beverly, (Mrs. Caroll Carlson), Owatonna, Minn.; seven grandchildren, and her father, John Olson, Clear Lake; a brother, a sister and two half sisters.
