On Thursday afternoon at the Methodist Church was conducted the funeral services of Mrs. Clarence Barnes, whose sudden and unexpected death occured on Monday evening, June 7th.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Barnes was Miss Dorinda Brinkman. She was born at New Liberty, Iowa on July 18, 1895. Her parents removed from there when she was but four years of age and afterward located in Garner. Here she met Mr. Barnes whom she later married. The young people had but recently succeded in procuring a house in which they had made an inviting and cozy home.

During the early part of December 1914 word came that Mrs. Barnes, in company of her mother, Mrs. Moody, had, while in attendence at the Sunday meetings, given her heart to Christ and to his service. During the days immediately precedeing her death, Mrs. Barnes found almost premonitory pleasure in singing "Saved by Grace", which song was also used as one of the numbers at the service held for her.

Mrs. Barnes is mourned by her husband, Mr. Clarence Barnes; her mother, Mrs. Marie Moody and a company of more distant relatives and friends. The deceased with her twin boys, for whom she had given her life, was buried in the Garner cemetery.
