Betty Lands 1924-1985

Services for Betty J. Lands, 60, who died at Lake City, Minn. Jan. 27, were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. Rev. Julius Rechtermann officiated.

Music was provided by Lynette Nuehring, organist, and Barbara Renberg, vocalist.

Casket bearers were Tim Christians, Kirk Pearson, Carl Pearson, Tom Christians, Kevin Pearson and Herbert Pearson.

Interment was at Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Arrangements were by Tenold Funeral Homes.

Betty J. Lands, the daughter of John and Freda (Merkel) Lass, was born July 25, 1924 in Hancock County. She was baptized Sept. 7, 1924 and confirmed by adult confirmation into the Lutheran faith Feb. 21, 1963. She attended Hancock County rural schools and graduated from Klemme High School.

Sept. 19, 1942 she was married to Francis Pearson. Two children, Jerry and Janeil, were born to this union. They farmed for 17 years in the Klemme, Rockwell and Nashua vicinities until they moved to Mason City in January of 1964 where Francis died on March 21, 1964.

Betty married William F. Lands on April 20, 1968. They lived in the Mason City area until moving to Rochester, Minn. in 1983, and retired to Lake City, Minn. in 1984.

Survivors include her husband Bill; son Jerry Pearson and wife Sally of Mason City; daughter Janeil Olson and husband Bill of Garner; two stepsons: Larry and wife Chris of Milford, Mich., and Richard of Grandview, Mo.; three stepdaughters: Sandra of Farmington, Minn., Jaqueline and Cynthia, Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-stepchild; brother Alvin and wife Rita of Hampton, VA; and many other relatives and friends whom she cherished greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Freda Lass; her first husband Francis, and an infant brother.
