Franklin Kluckhohn 1918-1988

Services for Franklin G. Kluckhohn, 70, Klemme, who died Friday, Nov. 18, 1988 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, were held Monday, Nov 21, 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Don Walters officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Lynette Nuehring.

Honorary casket bearers were Kermit Koerner, Forrest Langlitz, Milvern Barz, Eldon Hagen, Arnett Ostendorf and Cliff Anderson.

Active casket bearers were Lynn Marchant, Larry Kluckhohn, Daryl Brager, Craig Larson, David Back and Joel Back.

Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery at Klemme with Tenold Funeral Homes of Klemme and Belmond in charge of arrangements.

Franklin George Kluckhohn, the son of Frank W. and Anna Amelia (Liljemberg) Kluckhohn, was born July 11, 1918 at Klemme. Franklin graduated from Klemme High School in 1936 and began clerking in his father and uncles general merchandise store. He later became a clerk at the Klemme Post Office.

He entered the United States Army during World War II. After the war he returned home and worked in the post office and became Postmaster, a position he held for 30 years.

After his retirement, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. He also became interested in genealogy and traced his family's ancestry.

He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Kluckhohn of Klemme; five nieces and nephews; Mrs. Daryl (Roxanne) Brager of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Lynn (Carol) Marchant of Klemme, Joel Back of Lake Mills, David Back of Klemme and Larry Kluckhohn of Garner; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carmen.
