Harvey R. Ausborn 1926-1991
Services for Harvey R. Ausborn, 64, Belmond, who died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1991, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held Saturday, Feb. 16 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belmond with Rev. Jim Carpenter officiating.
Music was provided by organist, Marlys Nail, who accompanied vocalist, Bernard Verbugge.
Honorary casket bearers were Herb Greimann, Vernon Weiland, Larry Lange, Don Wessels, David Lange, John Ausborn, Jack Smith and Norman Mehl.
Active bearers were Harold Anderson, Paul Horstman, Bill Gatewood, Wade Greimann, Terry Ausborn and Randy Ausborn.
Burial was at the Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme with Tenold Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
Harvey Richard Ausborn, the son of Albert and Anna (Groh) Ausborn, was born March 18, 1926 at Kanawha. He graduated from Klemme High School in 1943.
He served with the United States Army during the Korean War from February 1951 until his discharge on February 3, 1953. He was awarded the Purple Heart on October 9, 1952.
March 6, 1953, he married Mildred Lucille Bunk at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. They farmed and had a dairy herd for 37 years southwest of Klemme.
Harvey was a member of the St. John Luthern Church in Belmond and had served several years on the church council.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Debra) Johnson of Garner, and Mrs. Lloyd (Janice) Bier Jr. of Garner; two sons, Ronald H. Ausborn of Belmond, and Kenneth E. Ausborn of Garner; eight grandchildren; and four brothers, Ervin Ausborn of Klemme, Leonard Ausborn of Duncan, Donald Ausborn of Klemme, and Robert Ausborn of Ames.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant daughter Diane.
