Sandra "Sandy" Korsa
May 10, 1945 - August 28, 2017Sandra “Sandy” Korsa, 72, of Garner, died on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Sandra May Korsa, a daughter of Ethan and Ella (Smith) Curley, was born on May 10, 1945, in Thompson, Iowa. She graduated from Thompson High School in 1962. On September 11, 1964, she married Bernard Korsa in Thompson. They farmed south of Crystal Lake until 1970 and south of Garner until 1973. In 1983, they moved into Garner. Besides raising her family, Sandy also operated a day care in her home and worked at Casey’s General Store in Garner making donuts. She enjoyed baking, working on puzzles, playing cards, sewing, and going to casinos. Nonetheless, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Bernard, of Garner; five children: Amber (Tom) Clevenger, Laurie (Joel) Hall, Robin (Doug) Hamrick, Kimberly (Doug) Olhava, all of Garner, and Kevin (Heidi) Korsa, of Kalispell, Montana; eighteen grandchildren: Alysha, Carter, Deserae, and Ty Clevenger; Jake (Gabriella) Hall, and their daughter, Eleigha; and Sage, Samantha, and Tricia Hall; Addison Hamrick; Kyle (Jamie) Korsa, and their daughter, Aubree; Steven (Elizabeth) Korsa, and their daughter, Ruby; Paige Korsa; Joshua (Suzanne) Olhava, and their two children, Anna and Evelyn; Natasha Olhava; Colby Olhava; and Jordan and Autumn Prehn; two sisters, Rosella Wubben, of Thompson, and Gwen (David) Farrell, of Olathe, Kansas; two brothers, Harold “Gene” (JoAnn) Curley, of Garner, and Bob Curley, of Waconia, Minnesota; a brother-in-law, John Paulson, of Valley City, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Olhava; a sister, Janet Paulson; five step-brothers; and a brother-in-law, Sid Wubben.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the United Methodist Church in Garner, where she was a member, and will resume one hour before the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
