Aged Resident Of Britt Dies
Ernest Missal at 93 Finishes Useful Life
Garner - Funeral services will be held at the First Lutheran church in Britt Friday at 2 p.m. for Ernest Frederick W. Missal, 93, who died at a hospital in Pontiac, Ill., Monday evening. The Rev. John Mohr, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery at Britt. Mr. Missal was the father of Fred Missal, Garner, Hancock county auditor.
Ernest Frederick W. Missal, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Missal, was born June 27, 1853, in the province of Poznan, Poland. At the age of 20 he emigrated to America where he settled near Wenona, Ill, Later he moved to a farm near Lostant, Ill., where he lived until March, 1901, when he came with his family to a farm 3 miles north of Hutchins. He lived there until he retired and moved to Britt in 1920. His later years were spent with his children and most recently he had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Otto Boening at Pontiac, Ill.
On Dec. 31, 1889 he was united in marriage to Pauline Wenzlaff at Wenona, Ill. Six children were born to this union, 5 of whom survive. A daughter, Mrs. John Holtorf, died in 1916 and his wife in 1919.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Mrs. John Lubben of LeMars; Mrs. Otto Boening of Pontiac, Ill.; Mrs. C. E. Steenhard of Britt; 2 sons Herbert of Wesley and Fred of Garner, and a son in law, John Holtorf of Britt.
Mr. Missal was a charter member of Peace Lutheran church in Orthel township and later of the First Lutheran church of Britt to which he donated a pipe organ 2 years ago.
