Hold Reburial Rites for Vet of World War I

Britt - Reburial services were held here Monday afternoon for George F. Castle, 51, veteran of World War I, who died in a veterans hospital at Livermore, Calif., Jan. 31, 1951. His mother, Mrs. Mary Castle, wife of the late Charles F. Castle, had not known of the death of her son until within the past month.

Information here indicated that the deceased veteran had given a California friend as informant who evidently was unaware of his relatives here.

Mr. Castle enlisted in the World War I on April 8, 1917, and was honorably discharged on May 19, 1919, after serving in France.

Services here were held at St. Patrick's Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. John P. Smith, pastor of St. Patrick's Church offering the prayers. The Britt post of the American Legion honored their comrade, Otto Jacobson, acting as commander. The post chaplain, Kenneth F. Boughton, offered the military prayers. The color guard and firing squad saluted the dead at the grave. The Boughton Funeral Home was in charge.

Survivors include the aged mother, Mrs. Mary Castle, and twin sisters, Mrs. William Hughes and Mrs. Leo Clark, of this community.
