Britt - Funeral services for Mrs. G. W. (Emily) Leighty, 82, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Stilson EUB Church. The Rev Donald Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Grupe Funeral Home is in charge.
Mrs. Leighty died Friday at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner. She is survived by her husband, George, nieces and nephews.
Born in Illinois, she was graduated from Moody Bible Institute and from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Great Falls, Mont. She was the first woman in the state of Montana to receive a license as a minister. She was also a registered nurse.
Mrs. Leighty came to Iowa in 1920 and was employed as a social worker in Polk County. She was married to George Leighty in 1930. They moved to Britt in 1964.
