Miss Sara Lee, Britt Pioneer, Dies at 86
Britt - Miss Sara Lee, 86, an early pioneer of this area, died at her home here Saturday. She was born Dec. 27, 1871, in Deerfield, Wis., and had lived in Britt since 1879. She was a seamstress and for 30 years had been a saleslady in the Lewis Store.
Miss Lee was the last surviving charter member of the Evangelical Free Church. She served as treasurer of the church 19 years. She had been a member of the library board 40 years, from the time it was started until her death. A member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1912, she was also a Royal Neighbor and active on the Hospital Auxiliary. She belonged to the Britt Republican Women's Club and the Social Arts Club.
Miss Lee is survived by a sister, Mrs. B. J. Johansen, Minneapolis; a brother, Sherman Lee, Port Huron, Mich.; a sister in law, Mrs. Emily Lee, Britt; four nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Osman Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church. The Rev. E. B. Streed will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
