1906-1995Services for Wayne W. Whitney, 89, Klemme, who died Tuesday, May 9, 1995, at the Rowley Masonic Home, were held Monday, May 15, 1:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with Rev. Jerry Robertson as officiant.
Music was provided by Margaret Tue, organist, and Ralph Whitney, vocalist. Ushers were John Schwichtenberg and Bob Scott.
Inurnment was at the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme, with Tenold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Wayne W. "Bill" Whitney, the son of John Ralph and Gertrude (Howlett) Whitney, was born February 2, 1906 at Britt. He graduated from Britt High School and Upper Iowa University.
He met his wife. Kristine while teaching in Paullina, and they married in 1934 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They taught school in Ogden, Williams, Paullina, Bronson, Britt, Rockwell, Hanlontown, Ware, Renwick and Klemme where they retired.
After the death of his wife, Kristine in 1992, Wayne continued to live in Klemme until he entered the Rowley Masonic Home.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme, Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, was president and one of the founders of the Klemme Senior Citizens, was a great educator, loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by sons, Ralph Whitney of Perry and Richard Whitney of Hoffman Estates, IL; granddaughters, Laura and Jennifer Whitney; great granddaughter, Jessica; and a sister, Mrs. Albert (Martha) Cooper of Britt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kristine; brothers, Charles of Garner and Orville of Britt.
