C. J. Kuch dies at 84; Rites at Crystal Lake

CRYSTAL LAKE: Christoph Johan Kuch, 84, a retired farmer, died Saturday at the Hancock Memorial Hospital, Britt. He had been in failing health the last six years.

Born March 30, 1877, at Wittenberg, Germany, he was the son of Christian and Christine Kuch. He came to Reinbeck, Iowa, when 15. June 19, 1901, he was married to Katherine Schmidt at Thompson. They farmed northeast of Crystal Lake until 1946.

Surviving are his wife, a grandson, Calvin Voight, whom they reared and who lives on the home farm. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. William (Emma) Voigt, in 1924 and a son, John.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church, Crystal Lake, with burial in the Crystal Lake Cemetery. The Rev. Walter B. Phelps will officiate. Boughton Funeral Home is in charge.
