Services for Hedvig Johnson 97, Sac City, formerly of Britt, who died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 1991 at the Loring Care Center in Sac City, were held Saturday, Feb. 23, at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Leann Buns. Ushers were Gilbert Guenther an Harry Smith.

Honorary casket bearers we John Greenlaw and Larry Palmer.

Active bearers were Garo Lauderback, Dave Johnson, Mike Johnson, Rick Johnson, Edd Luppen and Vern Olsen.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hedvig Johnson, the daughter of Anton and Thealinda Johnson Willadson, was born April 12, 1893 in Granite Canon, WY. In 1900 she moved with her family to Fort Dodge and soon after, she moved to Britt where she received her education. She was employed in a music store and gave piano lessons. In her early days she played the piano for the silent movies at the Princess Theater in Britt.

September 26, 1912, she married Edward Johnson from Sweden in Mason City. The couple established their home in Britt. In August of 1982 she became a resident of Sac City.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt for 75 years where she had also been the organist.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Palmer and her husband, Keith of Sac City; three sons, William Johnson and his wife, Martha of Lewisville, TX, Harold Johnson, and his wife, Gen of Britt, and Rudy Johnson and his wife, Evelyn of International Falls, MN; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, who died September 22, 1954; a great grandchild, Richard Luppen; four brothers; and two sisters.
