Funeral Service Set Thursday For Mrs. Johnson, 92

Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Lars Johnson, 92, a long time resident of Hancock County, Thursday of this week, 2 p. m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with the Rev. E. V. Streed in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Britt.

Christine Anderson was born at Sobick, Denmark, April 12, 1862, a daughter to Hanse and Hanne Anderson. In 1887 she accompanied her parents to the States, coming to Goodell, Iowa, to join other members of the family, a sister and a brother, who had come earlier.

On July 10, 1890, Christine Anderson was united in marriage to Lars Johnson, who had come to the States in 1886. The couple went to farming on his farm east of Britt and made this their home until retirement in 1917 when they came to Britt to make their home in the west part of town.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and was active in the work of that church and the Ladies Aid in her earlier years when health permitted. Her hobbies were flowers and crocheting. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Johnson had been ill for quite some time. Her daughter Hanna had been here at various times to care for her and in November came to be with her mother in her last illness. Death came Monday August 9, at her home. She had reached the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

Surviving are the husband; the daughter, Mrs. Harry (Hanna) Stromberg, Chicago, Ill.; and threes sons: Hans at Farmington, Minn.; Lyman, San Francisco, Calif.; and Leo at Webster City, Iowa. There are ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. An Infant son preceded her in death

Mrs. Johnson is the last of her family, having been preceded in dearth her parents, two brothers and one sister.
