Homer H. Johnson

MASON CITY: Homer H. Johnson, 82, of 1110 First St. N.W., died Friday (Oct. 7, 1994) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Frank A. Marino and the Rev. Hubert Dahl officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson was born Aug. 9, 1912, in Hancock County, Iowa, a son of John H. and Annie M. (Baker) Johnson. He attended schools in Hancock County and farmed until the age of 38.

He married Ruth L. Miller Oct. 29, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, then moved to Mason City that same year. He worked for Jacob E. Decker and Sons for 24 1/2 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Plymouth Road Bible Church and the retired workers of Deckers Armour.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. Johnson of Mason City; one son, Robert L. and wife, Karen Johnson, of Seattle, Wash.; one daughter, Mary Ann and husband, Nathaniel Reed, of Rochester, N.Y.; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and two brothers, Frank L. Johnson of Britt and Gilbert C. Johnson of Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen, in 1945, and two brothers.
