Former Britt Resident Dies at Lemmon, S.D.

Britt - John Madson, 95, a former resident of the Britt-Crystal Lake area, died Saturday at a hospital in Lemmon S.D. He was a retired rancher.

He was born July 25, 1862, at Lolland, Denmark, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mad Sorenson. He came to this country as a young man, and was married to Dora Anderson at Upper Flat. They moved to the Dakotas in 1910. They operated a ranch there until his retirement.

Mrs. Madson died in 1954. He is survived by four children, Phillip and Rose, New Orleans; Lillian, Lemmon, S.D., Mrs. B.F. (Anna) Levy, Lake Charles, La., and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, are a son, a brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, Britt, preceded by a prayer service for the immediate family at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernest V. Streed will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
