Wife of former Britt mayor dies; Rites Sunday

Britt - Mrs. J. L. Lloyd, 83, wife of a former Britt mayor, died Thursday at the Hancock Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church preceded by a prayer service for the family at the Boughton Funeral Home. The Rev. William R. Thomas will officiate.

Christine Dorothy Johansen was born in Chicago, June 4, 1876. She was the daughter of Ingebert and Marie Johansen who came to Hancock County while she was an infant. She attended school at Stilson and at the Garner Teachers Institute. She taught school in Hancock County.

Jan. 1, 1900, she was married to John L. Loyd. He was the superintendent of school at Clarion. They farmed in Montana for a time before returning to Britt.

Surviving are her husband, three sons, Edward, Ocean Springs, Miss.; Leman, Crystal Lake; Boyd, Coon Rapids; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
