G. A. Lester Rites Tuesday at Woden Church

Woden - George A. Lester, 71, prominent farmer living south of Woden, died Saturday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Home, Mason City. He had been in failing health the past six years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church preceded by a prayer service for the immediate family at the Boughton Funeral Home, Britt. The Rev. Herman Lechner, Mason City will officiate. Burial will be in Bingham Township Cemetery.

Born June 23, 1887, in Floyd County, Va., he was the son of Abraham and Callie Lester. The family came to Iowa in 1899. He was married Dec. 10, 1908, to Hazel Wirtjes in Algona. They farmed near Lakota and Titonka and came to Woden in 1931. For many years he was director of schools in Bingham Township.

Survivors are his wife, two daughters and two sons, Mrs. George (Alice) Schumacher, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Herman, Woden; George, Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Oscar (Leona) Sater, Austin, Minn; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence, in 1931, and by 11 brothers and sisters.
