GEORGE ANDREW NETLAND

George Netland was born December 9, 1918 to Benjamin and Mary Schepler Netland at Eagle Grove. He attended country school there. He moved to Klemme as a child with his parents and continued school there.

On September 21, 1928, he was married to Shirley Rapp at Britt. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad until he was drafted into military service in 1941.

After his discharge he returned to the railroad. In the early 1950's he went to work at the Co-op Elevator in Klemme. In the 1960's he started working for the county highway department and remained until his health required him to retire in 1975.

He was a member of the Garner VFW and the Klemme American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter and one sister.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three sons, Willard, Merlin and Benjamin Netland, all of Klemme; four daughters, Karen (Mrs. Gayle) Lay of Eldridge, Mary (Mrs. Cecil) Noble of Garner, Marilyn (Mrs, Duane) Robert of Garner and Carolyn Netland of Klemme; two sisters, Ethel Sobek and Mary Lou (Mrs. Elmer) Bachman and 17 grandchildren.

George Netland Services Held

Services for George Andrew Netland of Britt, who died January 7, were held Wednesday, January 10, 1979, at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. Rev. James Laak was officiant. Mrs. Harley Neuhring, organist, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Beier, as they sang "Amazing Grace", and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were: John Eenhuis, Galen Berhow, Virgil Ruter, Kenneth Boller, LeRoy Berhow and Richard Ulrich. Burial was in Klemme Cemetery. The Quesenberry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

George Netland

KLEMME — George Netland, 60, of Klemme, died Sunday at a Britt hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme. The Rev. James Laak will officiate, and burial will be in Klemme Cemetery.

Friends may call until time of services at Quesenberry Funeral Home, Klemme.

Mr. Netland is survived by his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Mrs. Gayle (Karen) Lay, Eldridge; Mrs. Cecil (Mary) Noble and Mrs. Duane (Marilyn) Roberts, both of Garner; and Carolyn Netland, Klemme; three sons, Willard, Merlin and Benjamin, all of Klemme; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Sobek and Mrs. Elmer (Mary Lou) Backman.
