Obituary

ELLEN MATILDA JOSTEN

Ellen Matilda Josten, age 84, passed away Sunday evening, June 18, 1972 at her home in Klemme. Mrs. Josten was born October 14, 1887 in Liberty Township in Hancock County. She was the daughter of Frederick and Charlotte (Griffen) Schlei. She was raised and educated in Liberty Township and lived her entire life in the Klemme area.

On November 22, 1916 she was united in marriage to Edwin Josten in her parents home near Klemme. Mr. Josten passed away December 28, 1966.

Mrs. Josten was fond of flowers and enjoyed working with them. She was an active member of the Kemme Garden Club. She started teaching Sunday School as a young girl and continued for many years. She was a charter member of the W.S.C.S. of the United Methodist Church and an active member of the church as long as she was able.

Mrs. Josten is survived by one daughter, Marcille (Mrs. Donald Berhow) of Lakota, Iowa; two grandchildren and one brother, Ed Schlei of Fenton, Iowa.

Mrs. Josten was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one infant son, Norman; two sisters and six brothers.
