Funeral Friday, Mrs. Woiwood – Death came at 4 a.m. Tuesday; 51 years old
Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Woiwood, 51, will be held at the Woiwood home in Concord township at 1:30 pm and at the Peace Reformed church at 2 pm on Friday May 21. The Rev. R.D. Stuebbe will be in charge of the services and internment will be at the Ell township cemetery.
Selma Sophia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Katter was born on a farm in Liberty township on June 24, 1897. She grew into womanhood in the Garner community and was married on February 11, 1920, to Walter Woiwood. They set up housekeeping on the farm in Concord township on which the family now live. Mrs. Woiwood died at a Mason City hospital after a lingering illness Tuesday morning, May 18.
Mrs. Woiwood was the first child baptized in the Ell township Reformed church after the present church was built and was confirmed in the Reformed faith in the same church on April 5, 1912. She was a lifelong member of the church.
Left to mourn her passing are: her husband, three sons, Eugene, Donald, and Vincent, and one daughter Almira all of Garner; four sisters, Mrs. Henry Kirchhefer, Mrs. Otto Schlawin and Mrs. Otto Schroer all of Garner and Mrs. Elmer Bredlow of Hayfield. Her parents, a sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
