REV. E. MORRIS EGELAND, Pastor

Obituary

MRS. LOUISE KLUCKHOHN was born October 6th, 1859, at White Rock, Ogle County, Illinois, the
youngest of a family of nine children born to her parents, Sabestian Ell and Katherine
(Weideman) Ell.

In 1870, when Louise was eleven years old, the family moved to Hancock County, and were
among the first settlers in the Township of Ell, which bears their name.

In the summer of 1871, Rev. William Koerner, a circuit rider, called at the farm home of
the Sabestian Ell family, and conducted a religious service. This was the beginning of
German Methodism in Hancock County. Louise Ell became a member of the Methodist Church and
has continued to be a member for 75 years.

In the spring of 1879, Louise Ell and Geo. W. Kluckhohn were married. They commenced
housekeeping on the Kluckhohn farm and continued to farm in Ell Township for 12 years. They
moved to Klemme in 1891, operated a butcher shop for two years, and then went into the
restaurant business which they operated for 17 years. Thereafter, in 1910, George Kluckhohn
continued in the Real Estate and Insurance business until his death in 1926.

There was weeping in this home, when the Angel of death called, now and then thruout the
years, and took of their loved ones, four children.

There was a "Heap of Living" in the hospitable home of George and Louise Kluckhohn.

There was rejoicing from time to time when babies were born, nine of them.

Again there was gladness within these walls, as young folks grew up, and one after another
were married and left the parental roof.

And what a joy it was in the evening of life, to have the grandchildren call to romp and
play and eat of Grandmother's cookies.

Truly, Grandmother Kluckhohn was Queen in a very busy household.

And now, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 16 days, like a child tired of play,
Grandmother Kluckhohn closes her eyes in eternal sleep.

She leaves five children:
Frank W. Kluckhohn
Sadie Turgeson
Clarence Kluckhohn
Fred Kluckhohn
Lola Keraus

Also 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
