Obituary
JOHN ALBERT ETCHEN
John Albert Etchen, 74, of Klemme passed away Tuesday, February 20th, at St. Joseph's Mercy
Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.Mr. Etchen was born April 9, 1898. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Eitmeyer) Etchen.
Mr. Etchen was raised and educated in the Klemme area and spent his entire life in this
community.On October 19, 1922, he was united in marriage to Esther Swanson in the Methodist parsonage
in Mason City, Iowa.Mr. Etchen was an auto mechanic and had operated the Etchen Auto Company for 50 years. He
had taken care of the Klemme Community School buses for 25 years. He served on the Klemme
Fire Department as a fireman for 25 years and also served 2 terms on the Klemme City
Council.Survivors include his wife, Esther; one daughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Westberg of Clear
Lake; two grandchildren; two brothers, Albert and Fred of Klemme; and two sisters, Mrs.
Lillian Brooks of Clear Lake and Mrs. Fred (Rose) Bell of Klemme.Preceding Mr. Etchen in death were his parents and one brother.
