Lars Peter Olsen, aged 89 years, 7 months, 26 days, died Friday at Good Samaritan Home in Mason City where he spent the past two years.
Mr. Olsen was born at Tornmark, Denmark, February 2, 1863, a son of Ole and Elizabeth Olsen. He was reared there and came to America with his parents when a young man. He worked at Elgin, Illinois, for a year before coming to Iowa. He united in marriage at Britt on October 28, 1890, to Catherine Bramsen.
In 1894 he purchased a farm 5 miles north and mile west of Britt and improved it by erecting all the buildings. There the family resided happily until death claimed Mrs. Olsen on June 6, 1917. After his beravement he retired from the farm. He lived at Wesley several years and was married in 1924 to Miss Ida Johnson at Wesley Three years later, in 1927, she passed away.
Mr. Olsen was the last of a family, preceding him were two brothers, Ole and Louie M. Olsen and a sister, Mrs. Ed. Peterson.
Two sons survive their father, Emanuel Olsen of Britt and G. L. Olsen of San Diego, Calif. One son Harry died in infancy.
Mr. Olsen was a sincere Christian and always attended services and prayer meetings of his church, the Evangelical Free church. He was a charter member of the Upper Flat church and helped to build it.
Final rites were held at the Evangelical Free church in Britt, Monday afternoon with the Rev. E. Walter Lindgren and the Rev. J. S. Phipps giving the last words of comfort to the sons and near relatives and friends. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt.
