Mrs. Ranghild Hovda was born at Driftland, Aardal, Norway, October 21, 1844, and died at Radcliffe, Iowa, May 31, 1922, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 10 days.
She came to Leland, Ill., in 1873, where she remained six years. In 1879 she came to Hamilton county, Iowa, and settled on a farm three miles north of Randall.
In 1880 she was married to Hover Knudson. This marriage lasted only a few years. Mr. Knudson died and left her with one child, Hover Knudson, who died about eleven years ago.
In 1886 she was married to Andrew Hovda and to this union was born one child, namely: Amos Hovda, who lives on the home place. Mr. Hovda died in 1902. Mrs. Hovda had for the last few years failed in health and during the last year or so, she was entirely blind.
Besides her son she leaves also a brother, Thor Driftland of Jewell, Iowa, and six step children, from the first marriage. They are: Mrs. T. Thompson of Nevada, Iowa, Charley Knudson and Mrs. O. Markus, both of Ellsworth, Mrs. L. Larson, Leland, Ill., Mrs. T. Pederson, Sandwich, Ill., and Dan Knudson, of Des Moines, Ia.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Randall, June 5th, at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Paulsrud and she was laid to rest in the cemetery east of Ellsworth.
