PEYTON ALLIE DIED SUNDAY
Peyton Allie died at the hospital in Webster City on Saturday, October 26th, after a brief illness from influenza, his death coming as a shock to his relatives and many friends who had hardly realized that he had been ill. Peyton was a young man of unusually, splendid qualities, was always cheerful, kind, considerate and anxious at all times to serve his friends. It was probably his willingness to aid others that led to his untimely death. He had heard that Anton Brekke, who he had formerly worked for, was ill with influenza, and needed help. Without being asked he came to town and went to work at the Brekke cafe. On Saturday he became quite ill with the influenza, but refused to quit work and did not go to bed until Sunday evening, when his condition had become so critical that nothing could be done to save him. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Allie, of Fowler, Inc., arrived Saturday morning, and were with him at the end. Peyton was fully conscious the last few minutes of his life, and expressed his willingness to die, without any fears or regrets.
Peyton Allie was born June 10, 1897, and was 21 years, 4 months and 16 days of age at the time of his death. For several years past he has made his home in this vicinity. Besides his father and mother, he leaves to mourn his untimely death, seven brothers and three sisters. The brothers are: W. H. Allie of Eldora; F. G. and Bascom, of Jewell; Charlie and Shelar, of Frankfort, Ind., Frank, who is in military service at Hoboken, N. J.; and Byrd, who is in military service in France. The sisters are: Mrs. Lizzie Shaw, of Fowler, Ind.; Mrs. Frances Wilson, of Piper City, Ill.; and Miss Edith Allie, of Fowler, Ind. All were present at the funeral services except the two brothers in the army and the married sisters.
Funeral services were held at the F. G. Allie home on Monday, at 11:00 A. M., conducted by Rev. Snodgrass. The pall bearers, who were all personal friends of the deceased, were Chas. House, Frank Schlafke, Louie House, Donald Severson, Carl Ragsdale and Gifford Rullestad.
