MR. AND MRS. M. J. MORTENSON HAVE LOST TWO CHILDREN

During the past week Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Mortenson, living two miles northeast of Jewell, have had the great misfortune to lose two of their children as a result of pneumonia following attacks of the dreaded influenza. As was reported in the Record last week, the little boy, Clifford Merle, died on Wednesday, October 23rd, being 6 years and 8 months old at the time of his demise.

Last Friday death again called at the Mortenson home, and little Vernal Marie passed into eternal rest and peace. Vernal was born March 8th, 1906, and at the time of her death was 12 years, 7 months and 17 days of age. The two children attended the public schools in town, the little boy bein in the primary grade and the girl in the 7th grade. The community deeply sympathizes with Mr. and Mrs. Mortenson in their sad bereavement.

The funeral service for both children was held at the home in the open air on Monday at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Norstad, and interment made in Evergreen cemetery.
