OBITUARY

Borni Randal Oppedahl was born at Randal, Norway, March 5th, 1837, and after a long and useful life passed to her reward, Jan. 18th, 1919, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 13 days. She was baptized and confirmed in the church of Norway.

In 1865 she was married to Torkel Oppedahl. They came to America in 1872 and settled in Hamilton county, Iowa, near Lake Center, where they have lived ever since. They had nine children, of whom five have preceded their mother in death. One died in Norway and four in this country. She is survived by her aged husband, Torkel Oppedahl, and four children. The children are: Ingeborg, now Mrs. Iver Nelson, of Story City; Sophie, now Mrs. John Satre, of Lake Center; Tillie, now Mrs. Bert Mathre, of Stanhope; and one son, the Rev. Hans Oppedahl of Marietta, Minn. Rev. Oppedahl has recently been called as pastor of St. Pauls Church seven miles southwest of Jewell.

All the surviving children were present at the funeral, which was conducted by Rev. Norstad at the Lake Center Church on Tuesday afternoon, January 21st.
